In the face of so many varieties of gas flowmeters, the selection of general users has become a problem. How to scientifically and objectively choose a more suitable flowmeter is a problem that needs to be paid attention to. We believe that the selection should follow the appropriate rules, try to avoid the misleading publicity of manufacturers, and find a suitable gas flowmeter for themselves, which is their ideal gas flowmeter.

Gas flow meter selection can be carried out according to five aspects: instrument performance, fluid characteristics, installation conditions, environmental conditions and economic factors. Various considerations are as follows:

1. Instrument performance: accuracy, repeatability, linearity, range, pressure loss, upper and lower flow rates, signal output characteristics, response time, etc.;

2. Installation conditions: pipeline layout direction, flow direction, upstream and downstream pipeline length, pipeline caliber, maintenance space, pipeline vibration, grounding, power supply, auxiliary equipment (filtration, sewage), explosion-proof, etc.;
3. Environmental conditions: ambient temperature, humidity, safety, electromagnetic interference, etc.;

4. Economic factors: purchase cost, installation cost, maintenance cost, calibration cost, service life, operation cost (energy consumption), spare parts, etc.

The selection steps are as follows:

1. Primary available instrument types according to five factors;

2. Use the elimination method to select 2-3 types in the comparison and discharge the order;

3. Carefully evaluate the five aspects again, and then eliminate one type of meter.

The success of gas flowmeter selection largely depends on the selection personnel's exact understanding of the instrument performance quality and the characteristics of the measured object. For the performance and quality of the instrument, special attention should be paid to the manufacturer's false publicity and misleading ingredients. The exact understanding of the measurement object is very important, not the user has an accurate understanding of their own measurement object, many selection failures are caused by inaccurate parameters.
