Measuring natural gas with a gas turbine flowmeter or with Roots flowmeter?

2021-04-24

    Gas Roots flowmeter (also known as gas waist flowmeter) and gas turbine flowmeter are two kinds of flow meters commonly used in gas trade measurement. What kind of flow meter should we choose when purchasing?

1. There is little difference between gas Roots flowmeter and gas turbine flowmeter in function, specifically:

a, display instantaneous flow, cumulative flow, temperature, pressure, etc.;

b, can choose pulse output or 4-20mA circuit output;

c, can choose battery power supply or 24VDC power supply;

d, support RS485 communication, GPRS communication, HART protocol;

e, can be used with IC card control valve, can be connected to the PLC system.

2. Range comparison

The gas Roots flowmeter has a range ratio of up to 1:200 wide and small starting momentum, which is suitable for occasions with small flow and large flow change, such as hotels, large restaurants and other occasions.

The range ratio of the gas turbine flowmeter is generally 1:10-1:30, which is suitable for medium and high flow rate gas measurement.

3. Installation requirements

The volume of the gas Roots flowmeter is small, the requirements for the straight pipe section are not high, and it is suitable for installation in narrow places. Gas Roots flowmeters are generally recommended for vertical installation.

When installing the gas turbine flowmeter, at least the first 2D and then 1D straight pipe sections should be left. Gas turbine flowmeters are generally recommended for horizontal installation.

4. Price comparison

The price of gas Roots flowmeter with the same pipe diameter is slightly higher than that of gas turbine flowmeter.
