What should be done if the readings of the external ultrasonic flow meter are inaccurate?

2023-12-29
If the external ultrasonic flowmeter suddenly reads inaccurate, there may be a number of reasons for this. Here are some possible troubleshooting steps:

Check the installation position:
Ensure that the external ultrasonic flowmeter is installed in the appropriate position and complies with the manufacturer's recommendations. Check for empty air bubbles, foreign bodies, or corrosive substances that affect the spread of the ultrasound.

Check piping conditions:
Check whether there are abnormal fluid flow conditions in the pipeline, such as bubbles, sand, etc., which may interfere with the propagation of ultrasonic waves and affect the measurement accuracy.

Calibrate flowmeter:
Calibrate flowmeter to ensure accuracy. Some flowmeters can be calibrated manually, while others may require professional maintenance personnel.

Check the power supply and cable:
Ensure that the power supply of the external ultrasonic flowmeter is normal and the cable connection is firm. Power supply problems or poor cable connections can cause inaccurate readings.

Eliminate electromagnetic interference:
Ensure that the flow meter is free from external electromagnetic interference. There may be other electronic devices or strong power devices nearby that cause interference and need to be isolated or removed.

Check the sensor:
Check the ultrasonic sensor for physical damage, such as collisions or corrosion. Make sure the sensor surface is clean and free of impurities.

Software and Settings:
Check that the software Settings of the flowmeter are correct. Flowmeter software may need to be reconfigured or updated.

Environmental Conditions:
Consider the environmental conditions in which the flowmeter is located, such as temperature, humidity, etc. Certain extreme conditions can affect flowmeter performance.

If the above steps still cannot solve the problem, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer or after-sales service department of the flow meter, they may provide more professional support and repair services. In terms of troubleshooting and maintenance, it is best to be operated by experienced professionals.
