Why do vortex flowmeters perform temperature and pressure compensation for steam measurement

Many customers are uncertain whether to carry out temperature and working pressure compensation when checking steam flow in steam pipeline equipment. The following is Aister Instruments operator according to the field application, summarized some of the temperature and pressure compensation vortex flowmeter work experience for everyone to share resources.

When the temperature and working pressure of the steam are modified, the relative density of the steam will follow the change, resulting in the measurement error of the vortex flowmeter. In order to reduce errors and omissions, the temperature and pressure offset method can be listened to to reduce measurement errors and omissions. To put it bluntly, the essence of temperature and pressure offset is the vapor density evaluation method to listen to opinions when the temperature and working pressure of the measured steam are inconsistent with the standard value used in the overall planning.

The relative density marking method can be carried out either manually or actively using dashboards or DCS. Taking the steam flow measurement with packing as an example, it is shown that when the main parameters of the practical activity (temperature, working pressure) of the measured steam flow are inconsistent with the main parameters of the overall planning, the flow coefficient α, the thermal expansion coefficient ε of the flow beam, and the diameter d equivalent will be modified. However, when the temperature and working pressure of the steam are not very volatile, that is, the main parameters of the working condition violate the main parameters of the overall plan, and the measurement damage is relatively small, the ideal measurement precision can be achieved by using the temperature and pressure offset method.

But when the working condition main parameter violates the overall planning value too much. Or when the main parameters of the working condition are constantly fluctuating and large, even if there is a temperature and pressure compensation method, it is still difficult to reach the measurement precision requirements, at this time, the special filler is concerned, only the contact between the gas pressure and the total flow from the beginning. The temperature of the saturated steam is a single value function of the working pressure, so the temperature and pressure offset of the relative density can be reduced to the working pressure offset.

Saturated steam is classified into single-phase current when the theme activity in the pipeline, and the relative density of saturated steam is determined by the two main parameters of steam temperature and working pressure, while the temperature and working pressure of overheated steam are an independent variable, so both temperature and working pressure need to be compensated.
