What causes the gas turbine flowmeter measurement error

Gas turbine flowmeters are mainly used to measure the flow of fluids in industrial pipelines, such as air, nitrogen, natural gas, etc. Due to the small pressure loss, large range and accuracy of eddy flow, the volume flow rate is almost unaffected by fluid density, pressure, temperature and viscosity when measured under operating conditions. If the measurement is not accurate when using a gas turbine flowmeter, the first thing to do is to determine which incorrect methods are causing the flow error.

So what is the cause of the measurement error of the gas turbine flowmeter?

1. Influence of temperature on measurement

Temperature will affect the general flow meter measurement medium, temperature will affect the density of the medium, viscosity, etc., so that the measurement results are inaccurate and cause errors. To eliminate this effect, the K-factor is usually corrected. At present, some manufacturers' flowmeters have fixed temperature correction and real-time temperature correction in the software.

The actual type selection should be as small as possible to improve measurement accuracy. For example, vortex piping is designed to be used by multiple devices. Due to parts of the process that are sometimes not used, the current actual flow rate is reduced, resulting in actual use. The size chosen in the original design was too large and amounted to an increase in the lower limit of the measurable flow rate. When the flow rate is small, the indication of the process pipeline cannot be guaranteed, and when the flow rate is large, it can be used because it is sometimes difficult to reshape. The change in process conditions is only temporary. It can be used in combination with parameter reset to improve indication accuracy.

4. The cumulative effect of vortex flow on the upper surface of the human body

If there are viscous particles in the measured flow body, they may gradually accumulate on the upstream surface of the vortex generating body, resulting in changes in its geometry and size, so the flow coefficient will also change accordingly, so pay attention to cleaning during use.

5. The installation is faulty

The main installation problem is the length of the straight pipe in front of the vortex flowmeter sensor. If the length is not enough, the measurement accuracy will be affected.

6. Reasons for setting the direction of parameters

Incorrect product parameters can result in incorrect instrument indications. Parameter errors cause errors in the calculation of the full scale frequency of the secondary instrument. Full scale frequencies are similar, which makes the indication inaccurate for a long time. Calculate the actual full scale frequency. The full scale frequency makes the indication fluctuate too much to be read. Inconsistencies affect the determination of parameters, which need to be determined by recalibration and comparison with each other to resolve such issues.
