What is the best flow meter for measuring blast furnace coke oven gas flue gases?

In order to ensure the effect of use, we must first figure out the main composition and characteristics of these gases

1.blast furnace gas dust content is large. The dust content of blast furnace gas used in coke ovens should not exceed 15mg/m3. Since 2012, due to the improvement of the high pressure furnace top and washing process, the dust content of blast furnace gas can be reduced to less than 5mg/m3, but after long-term use of blast furnace gas, the dust in the gas will also be deposited in the gas channel, increasing the resistance and affecting the normal regulation of heating, so it is necessary to take cleaning measures.


In addition, the blast furnace gas is washed by water, which contains saturated water vapor. The higher the temperature of the gas, the more moisture, which will reduce the calorific value of the gas. It can be seen from the calculation that when the gas temperature rises from 20℃ to 40℃, the amount of heating should be kept unchanged, and the meter flow of gas will increase by about 12%. Therefore, the temperature of blast furnace gas should not exceed 35℃. When the gas temperature changes, the exchange machine should immediately adjust the surface flow of heating gas to ensure the stability of the total heat supply to the coke oven.

2.Coke Oven Gas, also known as coke oven gas, English name Coke Oven Gas(COG), due to the combustible components, belongs to high calorific value gas, crude gas or waste gas. It is a kind of flammable gas produced when coke and tar products are produced after high temperature distillation in the coke oven. It is a by-product of the coke industry. Coke oven gas is a mixture, and its yield and composition vary due to the quality of coke coal and the conditions of the coking process. Generally, each ton of dry coal can produce 300~350m3 of coke oven gas (standard state). Its main components are hydrogen (55%~60%) and methane (23%~27%), in addition to containing a small amount of carbon monoxide (5%~8%), C2 above unsaturated hydrocarbons (2%~4%), carbon dioxide (1.5%~3%), oxygen (0.3%~0.8%)), nitrogen (3%~7%). The unsaturated hydrocarbons above hydrogen, methane, carbon monoxide and C2 are combustible components, while carbon dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen are non-combustible components.

3. flue gas (flue gas/stack gas) refers to gaseous substances that pollute the environment when fossil fuels such as coal are burned. These substances are usually discharged by flues or chimneys. The process of flue gas production is mostly caused by incomplete fuel utilization and incomplete combustion. Its main components are nitrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen, water vapor and sulfide, etc. If the furnace operation is not normal, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and other harmful gases will be produced. Inorganic pollutants accounted for more than 99%; Dust, powder and sulfur dioxide content is less than 1%, and must be emptied after treatment by gas purification device to reduce environmental pollution.

To sum up, due to the particularity of blast furnace coke oven gas flue gas, dust, water vapor, low pressure, small flow rate, commonly used flowmeters such as vortex flowmeters, spiral vortex flowmeters, gas turbine flowmeters, etc., can not meet the needs of the site environment, plus these installation sites are mostly in high-altitude chimneys or pipelines, most of the pipe diameter is particularly large. So installation is also a big problem.
