Vortex flowmeter A flow meter for measuring steam

Vortex flowmeter is a velocity flowmeter, which measures the volume flow rate in the working state. If you choose the table according to the volume flow rate, the mass flow rate provided by the customer should be converted into the volume flow rate under the working state, and then determine the diameter of the selected instrument against the volume flow parameter.

Vortex flowmeters measure superheated and saturated steam

1. Superheated steam

Steam is a special medium, in general, steam refers to superheated steam. Superheated steam is a common power source, often used to drive steam turbines, which in turn drive generators or centrifugal compressors. Superheated steam is obtained by heating saturated steam, which never contains liquid droplets or liquid fog, and belongs to the actual gas. The temperature and pressure parameters of superheated steam are two independent parameters, and its density should be determined by these two parameters. It can be checked by the superheated steam density table.

The vortex flowmeter measures the superheated steam after long distance transportation, with the change of working conditions (such as temperature, pressure, etc.), especially in the case of low superheat, it will enter the saturated or supersaturated state from the superheated state because the heat loss temperature is reduced, and it will become saturated steam or supersaturated steam with water droplets. Saturated steam suddenly depressurizes greatly, and when the liquid appears adiabatic expansion, it will also transform into superheated steam, so as to form a vapor-liquid two-phase flow medium.

2. Saturated steam

Vortex flowmeters measure steam that has not been superheated and is called saturated steam. It is a colorless, odorless, non-combustible and non-corrosive gas. The content of liquid droplets or liquid fog in saturated steam reflects the quality of the steam, which is generally expressed by the parameter dryness. The dryness of steam refers to the percentage of dry steam in the unit volume of saturated steam.

Saturated steam has the following characteristics:

1) There is a one-to-one correspondence between the temperature and pressure of saturated steam, and there is only one independent variable between the two.

2) Saturated steam is easy to condense, and if there is heat loss during the transmission process, it will lead to a decrease in temperature and pressure. Strictly speaking, saturated steam more or less contains liquid droplets or liquid fog of two-phase fluid, so different states can not be described by the same gas equation of state.

3) Accurate measurement of saturated steam flow is difficult, because the dryness of saturated steam is difficult to ensure, the general flow meter can not accurately detect the flow of two-phase fluid, steam pressure fluctuations will cause changes in steam density, vortex flowmeter indication value will produce additional errors. Therefore, in the steam measurement, we must try to maintain the dryness of the steam at the measuring point of the vortex flowmeter to meet the requirements, and if necessary, compensation measures should be taken to achieve accurate measurement.
