How to select the electromagnetic flowmeter protection level
Electromagnetic flowmeter is composed of two parts: sensor and converter. It is based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction, used to measure the volume flow of conductive liquid with an electrical conductivity greater than 5μS/cm, is a kind of induction instrument to measure the volume flow of conductive medium.
In addition to measuring the volume flow of general conductive liquid, it can also be used to measure the volume flow of strong corrosive liquid such as strong acid and alkali and uniform liquid-solid two-phase suspended liquid such as mud, pulp and paper pulp.
Electromagnetic flowmeters are widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, metallurgy, textile, paper making, environmental protection, food and other industrial departments and municipal management, water conservancy construction, river dredging and other fields of flow measurement.
Under normal circumstances, the protection level of the integrated electromagnetic flowmeter is IP65, and according to the national standard GB4208-84 and the International Electrotechnical Commission standard IEC529-76, the standard for the protection level of electrical and electrical products housing is:
1, IP65: For the anti-water spray type, the electromagnetic flowmeter sensor housing allows the faucet to spray water from any direction of the electromagnetic flowmeter sensor, the water pressure is 30Kpa, the water yield is 12.5L/S, and the distance is 3 meters.
3, IP68: for the submersible type – under a certain pressure is suitable for long-term work in water or underground, at this time the sensor and display part of the electromagnetic flowmeter are separated, to make a split electromagnetic flowmeter, but must emphasize the protection level requirements of the electromagnetic flowmeter.
Under normal circumstances, the protection level should be selected according to the actual situation, the sensor is required to be installed below the ground and is often flooded, IP68 should be selected, and the sensor installed above the ground should be selected IP65. In any case, the display part of the electromagnetic flowmeter can not use water or enter the water, which will lead to the damage of the electromagnetic flowmeter.
